PIGLET MILL

Yesterday, the wonderful piglet shared a contemplative new song alongside a simple yet impactful self-directed video (shot by artist Toby Evans-Jesra). Having previously covered his works, through the recently disbanded Great Dad and new project Speed Training, as well as his excellent recent collaboration with Porridge Radio, piglet is the solo moniker of the criminally-underrated Northern Irish songwriter Charlie Loane. Out now via Double Dare, 'mill' is an open-hearted contemplation of Loane's journey as a trans man. Felt most prevalently in the candid lines, 'Might not look like who i am to you , maybe i never will, What difference does it make , to you am i a man or just ill ?', Loane learns to take comfort change and acknowledges how far he's come, stating: 'I’m so grateful i’ll never feel like that again'. Sonically subtler than some of Loane's previous work, 'mill' is a touching and accomplished piece that deserves to be heard. -Holly Mullineaux
